Flat tire and spare change on the shoulder

Forest-road pins, chip-seal nails, and a sidewall cut on the shoulder of 260. If your spare is good, you are twenty minutes from rolling.

$45 plus mileage · Prices are the floor. We set a fair number with you.

We bring a floor jack, a breaker bar, and a torque wrench. Lug nuts that a tire shop ran up with an impact come loose without rounding, and they go back on at the right number so your wheel is not wobbling down 260 next week.

If the tire has a simple puncture in the tread we can plug it on the spot and skip the spare entirely. Sidewall cuts, shoulder damage, and anything bigger than a quarter inch is a spare and a trip to the tire shop; we will tell you which.

Tell us what you drive. Some trucks keep the spare under the bed on a cable that has not moved in ten years, and that is a different job than a hatchback with a donut. If your spare is flat too, say so and we bring an inflator.

When you call, have this

  • Where you are, with a mile marker if you are on 260
  • Whether the spare has air
  • Whether the lug key is in the glovebox

Questions people ask

What if I do not have a spare?
If the puncture is in the tread we can usually plug it and inflate it. If it is not pluggable, we can run you and the wheel to a tire shop in Show Low or Pinetop-Lakeside during their hours, at the hourly rate.
Can you change a tire on the highway shoulder?
Yes, on SR 260, US 60, and White Mountain Boulevard. Pull as far right as you safely can, hazards on, and stay in the vehicle until we arrive. We work with the truck as a barrier.
I got a nail on a forest road. Can you come up there?
Graded forest roads, yes. Rutted two-tracks after a storm, usually not with the service truck. Send a pin or the forest road number and we will tell you honestly.
How much is it?
$45 plus mileage. A plug is the same price. The mileage is from Lakeside.
